History

The primitive glasses originated from the magnifying lens. Chinese emperor observed the stars through the lens at around 2283 BC.
There were discussions on light, plane mirrors, convex mirrors and concave mirrors have been recorded in the 15 volumes of Mozi during the Warring States Period (475 BC - 221 BC) of ancient China.
Roman Seneca (4 BC -65AD) is said had used a glass globe of water as a magnifier to read books.
Marco Polo recorded that elder Chinese people wear glasses when reading small print at the end of the 13th century.
Also in 13th century, Italian glassblowers invented three kinds of lenses: Concave lenses, Convex lenses and Cylindrical lenses.
Most historians believe that the first real eyeglasses was produced in Italy by monks at around 1285-1289. The magnifying lenses for reading can sit on nose based on a bone or metal frame.
The first known eyeglass frame temples were made by Spanish craftsmen in 1600's. The ribbons of silk or strings were affixed to the frame and loop them over ears.
Optician Edward Scarlett designed rigid temples to sit on ears.

Lenses : Being the core of a pair of eyewear, lenses are hold by rims to help you to have a better vision. Most of them are made in glass or resin.
Frame : In general, the frame of eyewear covers rim, bridge, hinge, nosepad, ear piece, end piece, temple and pad arm. All parts except lenses can be regarded as frame.
Rim : Rim is the component to hold and fix the lenses in the frame.
Bridge : Sit in the center of the frame, Bridge connects two rims. It is just above your nose when you wear your glasses.
End pieces are small extensional parts on the outside of rims to connect rims with temples via hinge.
Hinge is the component to make your eyewear fordable. It connects the end pieces on rims and temples.
Nose pad is a small plastic piece attached on the edge of rim to help the whole frame sit on your nose comfortably.
Arm of Nose pad is a small metal component to fix the nose pad on the rim. And it also offers some turning angel and buffer to make the pad to fit nose comfortably.
Temples is the long arms on the side of the frame to connect the hinge and earpiece (or ear loop).
Eearpiece : Being the end of the temple arm, earpiece sit on or behind ear to make the glasses fixed on your face.
Top bar is available on some eyewear, especially sunglasses. Screws is needed to fix the nose pad or hinge.
