Classification of Laptop
There are no specific types of laptops; laptop retailers generally give them categories for consumers to find one laptop to cater their needs.
Normal categories covers 'Professional', 'mainstream', 'thin and light', 'ultra-portable', 'gaming', 'tablet'
- Professional
- This kind of notebook computer is powerful, with a bigger screen or even a discrete graphics card. It can be regarded as replacement of desktop computer. Usually it is bigger and heavier than ordinary computers.
- Mainstream
- It is the normal laptop in the market. You may call it the everyday product. This type of laptop is the most ordinary product and is the first choice for most potential laptop users. In terms of configuration, it can meet normal needs of business, office, entertainment, video, image, etc. In offers the best balance of portability and cost performance.
- Thin and light
- This is a laptop type mainly designed for business users aims at cost-effectiveness, high performance and portability. The thin body, long battery life, good business and entertainment performance attracts many users.
- Ultra-portable
- This type of notebook computer has an ultra-small size, which is lighter, thinner and easier to carry than ordinary thin and light models.
It even can be placed in a portable bag. The first generation covers ASUS EPC and the Ultrabook of Intel at then end of 2011.
- Gaming
- Gaming notebooks, as the name suggests, are notebooks designed maninly for playing games. This kind of laptop offers strong audio-visual performance.
This kind of notebook has higher requirements for graphics card, video memory and CPU, because it needs to handle the 3D picture of games.
- Tablet
- Tablet is also called Tablet Personal Computer or Tablet PC. It is a small, portable personal computer with a touch screen as the basic input device.
The touch screen allows users to perform tasks with a stylus or digital pen instead of a traditional keyboard or mouse.
Users can input through the built-in handwriting recognition, on-screen soft keyboard, voice recognition, or a real keyboard (if equipped).
